Scott Sorkin / John Stowell “All the Things 3/4 [excerpt]” - MP3 | 2'35'' | 1,823K Scott Sorkin - guitar [right channel] John Stowell - guitar [left channel] Sound Recording: Live to 2 track digital John Stowell is an amazing player with a completely unique style. This piece was recorded direct to Sony MDS-E10 mini-disc recorder. John is playing his Höfner nylon string. We close-miked his guitar and placed another mic on his AER amp. I'm playing my Ribbecke archtop through a Dr. Z Maz-38 Senior amp, and I was miked in a similar fashion. Scott Sorkin / Tim Volpicella “T. V.'s Groove [excerpt]” - MP3 | 3'05'' | 1,815K Scott Sorkin - guitar [right channel] Tim Volpicella - guitar [left channel] Sound Recording: Live to 2 track digital I've had the pleasure to know and perform with Tim Volpicella for many years. This piece was recorded live at the restaurant "Parcel 104" in Santa Clara, CA, direct to Sony MDS-E10 mini-disc recorder. Tim is playing his Chapin Fatline TV through his AER amp. I'm playing my Ribbecke archtop through a Walter Woods Electracoustic amp, into an SWR Working Man's 10" cabinet. We placed a large diaphragm condenser mic in front of each amp. Scott Sorkin / Nick Cudahy “Gary’s Waltz” - MP3 | 6'58'' | 4,901K Scott Sorkin - nylon string guitar Nick Cudahy - acoustic bass Sound Recording: Live to 2 track digital Nick is a great bass player living in Berkeley, CA. I got to know him shortly after he moved to the Bay Area from Boston where he was a founding member of the band “Combustible Edison”. This piece was captured during an afternoon get together at my house, direct to the Sony MDS-E10 mini-disc recorder. Nick's bass was recorded in stereo; a direct line out of his amp, and an ATM 4050 near the bridge. I'm playing a Spanish classical guitar into a CAD Equitek E 100 condenser mic. It's rather long, but I like how the piece starts and ends, so tough! Scott Sorkin / Ed Johnson / Kristen Strom “Para T” - MP3 | 6'42'' | 4,710K Scott Sorkin - composer/nylon string guitar [right channel] Ed Johnson - vocals/nylon string guitar [left channel] Kristen Strom - flute Sound Recording: Recorded at Digital/Black Arts on Cubase SX Ed is a guitarist/singer/songwriter from Palo Alto, CA. I've known Ed for many years and am jazzed to be playing in his band Ed Johnson and Novo Tempo. If you haven't heard Ed's music, you owe it to yourself to pick up a recording or hear the band live. I wrote this for the album "Movimento". Kristen Strom is a great woodwind multi-instrumentalist, and member of the Nuclear Whales Saxophone Orchestra, and also happens to be my wife! “Para T” is an homage to the great Brazilian musician Toninho Horta. |
